Brakes Repair

WHAT IS BRAKES REPAIR ?

It’s important to check your brakes regularly for signs of wear or corrosion. If your brakes appear to be in poor condition or are losing responsiveness, make sure you book your car in for a check. From there we can supply and fit and replacement parts so that you can drive your car safely.

At Fawkner Tyre Mart we offer a FREE inspection of your complete braking system, their current condition plus an estimate of when, if any , work will be required. Call us TODAY to make a booking.

GET A BRAKE SERVICE INSPECTION IF :

  • The brake pedal seems to be spongy or presses farther to the floor than usual
  • Your vehicle pulls to the right or left when you brake
  • Unusual noises or vibrations occur during braking

Many brake pads today have a built-in metal component that creates a slight squeal. The squeal increases in volume over time to alert you of the need for service. If you begin to hear a loud squeal, make sure to bring your vehicle to your local Meineke for a full, 23-point inspection.

REPLACING YOUR BRAKE PADS

Brake pad replacement is the most common repair job for automotive brake systems. The reason is simple: brakes are designed to wear out. The pads rub on the rotors to stop your car, so worn pads are the first part to check if you are experiencing any braking problems.

At Fawkner Tyre Mart we offer a complete brake system service. Our technicians will check both the front and rear brakes, assess the condition of the brake discs and pads and give you an accurate appraisal of when they need to be replaced.

RESURFACING YOUR ROTORS

In a disc brake system, rotors are attached to your vehicle’s wheels. When the brake pads grip the rotor, they bring both the rotor and wheels to a stop. However, the friction causes grooves and cracks to appear over time. By resurfacing your rotors it will bring them back to an “as-new” condition and reduce squealing and/or vibrating. Fawkner Tyre Mart will give your rotors a thorough inspection and recommend your best course of action.

BRAKE FLUID

Brake fluid is a vital part of your car’s braking system, and, if it is not checked and changed on a regular basis it can have a significant impact on your car’s braking ability.

That is because brake fluid readily absorbs moisture. And, when there is moisture in your brake fluid, it can boil when it becomes hot under hard braking. This can cause a significant reduction in the capability of your car’s brakes. In addition, moisture in your brakes causes corrosion of the braking system.

It’s therefore vital that your brake fluid is changed on a regular basis. Most manufacturers recommend your brake fluid is changed every two years at least. This ensures that the boiling point of your brake fluid is maintained at the right level and helps ensure your brakes are as effective as they can be.
